How trade grades work
Each team's grade scores what it won in the swap, on a single “wins” scale, as talent value + draft-capital value (received − sent):
Talent valueis each player's on-court impact (EPM-based), but convex— a superstar is worth more than the sum of the role players he's traded for, reflecting scarcity and the single roster spot. So a team turning depth into a star reads as a real talent gain even though the minutes barely move.
Draft-capital valuecounts picks and cash — an unprotected future first is worth the most, a swap or second far less, and picks are discounted the further out they convey. Picks don't play next season, so they don't move the projected record (the ▲/▼ next to each team) — but they docount toward the grade, so a rebuilder selling a star for a haul of firsts isn't graded as if it got nothing.
The net lands on an A+ → Fscale. Pick value is only charged to the team that gave it up in clean two-team deals; in three-plus-team trades only capital received is credited. Grades are a model's estimate, not a verdict — hover any grade for its talent/picks breakdown.
